Scrap Tire Round-Up

The Solid Waste District provides free recycling of scrap tires for communities every September during its Scrap Tire Round-Up event. Tires are picked up at city service garages by our licensed tire recycling contractor. This program helps communities recycle scrap tires collected from residents and reduces the city's financial burden of this costly service. Since the District began the Round Up in 1998, over 237,000 tires have been collected.

The District advises all communities to inform their residents that the best way to dispose of tires is through the retailer who sells them their new tires. There is a small fee charged for tire disposal, which is a state tax used for transporting and disposing of tires through state licensed facilities.

City Participants

The following communities will be participating in the District’s Scrap Tire Round-Up. These events are for residents only. We accept residential passenger tires only, and no tires with rims greater than 20 inches. Tires must be removed from the rims.  Please contact your city service department for more information. If your city does not participate, recycle your tires at a retail store that offers proper disposal for non-customers including Conrad’s Tire Express, Firestone Auto Care, and National Tire and Battery.
